ANNOUNCEMENT – PROJECTED RETURN TO TRAINING

We are currently closed due to the ongoing metropolitan Melbourne lockdown.

However, we are pleased to share the below projected roadmap out of lockdown, as prepared by Dogs Victoria. As an affiliate of Dogs Victoria, this roadmap applies to our return to training and trialling.

At this stage, we anticipate that we will be able to reopen (with some restrictions) from approximately Tuesday 26 October – when Victoria’s population has reached a double vaccination rate of 70%. We will continue to update you as matters progress.

STATUS OF CURRENT CLASSES
The remainder of this page applies when Club is not closed due to COVID (not currently!).

1. Who can currently train at CDODC?
We are staggering our return to training out of necessity, due to high demand. Please see below for an ongoing update.

Existing members (replied to expression of interest email)
Open. Classes have been allocated and resumed. After checking your junk mail, please contact us if you were expecting a class allocation but are yet to hear from your instructor.

Existing members (did not reply to expression of interest email)
Closed. This includes for existing, returned members who wish to commence an additional dog at CDODC. We hope to open up to these members over the coming weeks.

Dual members
Open for dogs who have returned to training. Please visit Membership – Dual Members to apply for a dual membership. We note that dual membership applications cannot be received on the same day of training and ask arrangements to be made in advance of class.

New members
Open to puppy pre-school, closed to all other levels. We hope to open up to further new members over the coming weeks. For more information on puppy pre-school applications, please visit the Obedience – Puppy Pre-School page

2. When are classes being held?
Please see below for an ongoing update on each of our class levels. Current members should now have received an email from their instructors confirming their class allocation (except for Social, which is run more ad hoc). Please send us an email or contact us on our Facebook if you were expecting an email and have not yet received one.

Puppy pre-school
Wednesday evenings at 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm. Please visit Obedience – Puppy Pre-School for information regarding enrolment.

Puppy, Basic One and Basic Two classes
Sunday mornings at 9.30 am and 11.00 am. Please refer to your instructor’s correspondence regarding location and time. No enrolment applications are currently being taken for the puppy and Basic One levels due to demand.

Members attending puppy school for the first time since puppy pre-school are reminded to please attend the office prior to class to make payment of their $20 on-ground training fee. This is the last fee you will need to pay until March 2022 when membership renewals are due.

Advanced obedience
Sunday mornings at 9.30 am. Please refer to your instructor’s correspondence regarding location and time.

Obedience trialling
Sunday mornings from 9.00 am.

Rally
Sunday mornings at 9.30 am.

Agility
Not currently running. Due to a change in circumstances, we expect that agility training will not run at CDODC for some time.

Flyball
Not currently running. Please contact the flyball coordinator via the Flyball page for more information.

Social
Sunday mornings at 9.30 am.

3. What else do I need to know?

COVID related requirements
When attending CDODC, please comply with all current COVID restriction requirements, such as social distancing and mask-related rules. Check-in via QR code is now mandatory for attendance at CDODC. We also ask members not to attend club if they feel unwell, and recommend dual memberships be arranged in advance of training in case of illness. Unfortunately dual memberships cannot be arranged same day and unregistered handlers will be unable to train with their dog.

Office hours
Our office is currently manned from 8.30 am to 9.30 am

Administration asks that all payments to the office and the shop please be made using Eftpos. We can still only accept small change for the barbeque, and tea and coffee.

Unfortunately we are unable to accept new members at this time. Please continue to monitor our website and Facebook for updates as we hope to take applications again in the near future. Please remember that we are a club run by volunteers and the number of classes run is based on how many volunteers we have available.

We are grateful for the patience our members have shown as we have awaited the reopening of our refurbished club rooms and grounds. We are excited to welcome back members and dogs alike, and get back to doing what we love!

About Our Club

Croydon & District Obedience Dog Club Inc. is a not-for-profit, 100% volunteer-run organisation dedicated to promoting responsible dog ownership while helping our members to enjoy life with their dogs.
In addition to teaching puppy and basic obedience classes, we train for, participate in and run a variety of canine sporting events as an affiliate of Dogs Victoria (Victorian Canine Association).

For the benefit of our members, our class numbers are limited to ensure handlers and dogs are given adequate levels of assistance.  Depending on the number of instructors we have available, this can mean there will be a long waiting period for class availability.

Please monitor this page and/or our Facebook for specific details of enrolment dates. Any free places will be filled quickly!

For further details about our training principles and enrolment, please visit our Training and Membership pages.
